Smell

–I am very particular about my perfume that I wear. I LOVE Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren scents. They are not flowery or overly sweet. I just love it.
–Downy in the dryer….nothing better than that.

Sight

–It has been so nice to see the sun out until 10:00 pm these days. Let’s face it after a dark winter in Alaska, it is so nice to see any sun at all. =]
–Spring shots all over flickr have been brightening my days. I can’t believe that there are blossoms blooming in the lower 48 right now.
–I do not know if this applies but I just watched Marley and Me and now I need to read the book.

Taste

–Cinnamon Rolls made from scratch.
–I have been craving anything with horseradish this week. I just can’t get enough.
–Ice water with a slice of lemon. Can you say “ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh”!?

Hear

–The trees are filled with tiny little birds talking to each other. I walk out on the porch and it is like I am in a stadium of bird chatter.

–Kids are playing outside again…it is fun to listen to their little giggles.

Touch

–I am having a dry skin issue right now with the weather changes and nothing soothes that like body butter from The Body Shop, my favorite is the Satsuma.
–It is cold enough at night that I am still cuddling up in my blanket on the couch at night when I watch TV, nothing feels better on a cold night that warmth of a great quilt or throw.

Sight

–We continue to watch the volcano steam across our sky. They say it may be done or it is building up for another blow.
Sound

Smell

–My daughter and her friends were talking about how everyone has a scent. Their home and themselves smell a certain way. One of her friends smells like coconut all the time, another has a citrus scent, and they said that she smells like clean cotton all the time, like a Downy scent. I have to confess I love the smell of clean cotton and so everything I buy smells like it. What a better way to stink, than that of something clean. =]

Taste

–This week my tastes have included sweet and salty chocolate chip cookies, saute vegetables, chamomile tea, and water with fresh lime.

Touch

–My son needs a haircut, my husband keeps reminding me. My son loves long hair and I can’t help but play with his curls when we are all gathered on the couch. He just turned 16 and there is something about playing with his curls that takes me to a time when he was 16 months.

simply senses–five senses friday–a day late.

Sight
This week we have been doing nothing but volcano watching. If we are not down there watching it we are on the internet reading the reports and watching squiggly lines. I am a proficient squiggly line reader, I bet you did not know that about me.

Last night about 11:20pm the volcano was going off and there was flames and lightening lighting up the sky. I was not fast enough to get these shots but the shot below and others of this eruption are available here.

Sound
My daughter went with her friend to Arizona over spring break for a week and the house was so quiet. She came home and now the house is filled with noise. Her begging me to let her do something, her screaming at her dad to stop teasing her, her laughing, even her hour long showers are making noise. Man, it is great to have her back.

Smell
I have a certifiable sensitive sniffer, seriously! This is gene I have handed down to my children and it drives him nutty. I was telling him last night that I can smell the volcano, that I can actually tell when it has erupted without looking at the site or being down on the beach watching it. It smells like fireworks, kind of. My daughter got up this morning and was eating cereal at the table and I let the dogs out and the smell swept in and she says, “What is that smell?” I just have to smile and it fills me with pride.

Taste
I love Benihana’s Yakisoba but I can’t afford to go there weekly to have it. I have been researching this week and making it at home. I think I have almost got it. It might not taste exactly like theirs but it will be close and have my signature on it. Maybe I will share my recipe this week.

Touch
I have been holding my camera a lot lately. I shoot a Canon 50D, it is quite large compared to the XT I used to shoot with. Weeks like this I miss my little comfortable camera but the images are so much better with the 50D so I deal with it.

breakfast–This week my daughter helped out with breakfast. *shocked* She stayed home from school on monday after her long season of bball she said she needed a mental day.
lemon–I love lemon water and I can’t seem to get enough of it.
salad–I can get too many salads and not want to eat them for a while but I have been loving them lately. Recipes here, here, and here.

Prints–I have been printing some of my images this week. I have been in kind of a slump lately and thought it would help. I shot these and after printing them off I fell in love with the image. One of my personal favorites. It is amazing how an image may not seem like much and then you print it and find a treasure. I am offering this one in my shop because I love it so much.

textures–I have been using a lot of these in my processing these days. I am just smitten with them. I love when people share.

jewelry–I am not much of jewelry wearer, I wear a lot of silver, the same stuff all the time. I love this shop. Her work is so vintage-like and her pieces so unique.

_______________________________________________________________ down comforter--At the end of a cold day I melt into my bed, the feel of a down comforter warms me in no time at all

I love these oranges. The fill the whole house with their scent and they so tiny.
